The Good Old Days

Many, many, many moons ago, I worked for answering services where we answered phones after hours for several different doctors and dentists. I would like to have an answering service right now - one that would field calls from my in-laws. And my boss. And maybe even my kids. That would be awesome! Sometimes, now all these 25+ years since I worked in the answering service center, I still remember the standard line we used. And when I answer the phone at work, for the attorney who just shares our office space, but who is never actually in the office, I always say that I don’t work for Mr. Attorney, I am simply answering his phones and would be glad to transfer you to his voice mail. Because I don’t know about your case, I don’t want to know about your case and I don’t want to hear your story. Harsh, yes. Necessary for survival? Absolutely!

My wish list includes

I really do want to own some waterfront property. Where I can go to escape the reality that is my life.  Someplace I can go to get away from it all.  And by “it all” I mean my kids and my job and law school.   And I want to be able to bring my dogs.  Because I love them sometimes more than I love my kids and husband.  Until I win the lottery and can buy the perfect piece of beach property, I troll websites and look at all the different options that area available, like the kitty hawk realty page.  And then I daydream for a while…

Bissell Steam & Sweep

So I saw a commercial for this, and I thought it was a really good item. I wanted to get one and couldn't wait.

Finally, I got one. I couldn't wait to get it home and try it out! Opened, the box. Putting it together was fairly easy. I was a little annoyed to see it required distilled water, but got lucky as we happened to have a bottle in the pantry. Filled up the tank, slapped on the washable cleaning pad that comes with it (actually it comes with 2) and started to clean.

NOT what I expected at all.

The sweeper part works o.k., although there's no suction. It's just a rotating brush. The steam seemed to come out o.k. and was pretty hot, however, the placement of the pad is awful and you cannot get in to corners and along edges. I was very annoyed with that. The worst part of the whole thing though, is the button to produce the steam. You have to constantly hold it down while you push and pull the unit. And the unit seemed hard to maneuver. I have fibromyalgia and it literally hurt to use this thing. I also don't see anyone with arm problems, such as carpal tunnel, being able to use this.

I was very disappointed and was sad it didn't work. I returned it after using it once. Hopefully someday, I will find a good product to clean the pain in the butt tile floors I have......Today, this product, was not the one.
