Happy Birthday America!
Because technically, we declared our independence on July 2nd, 1776. It just took a couple of days to get the language right so we could sign the Declaration of Independence until July 4, 1776.

The Struggle is Real
So 13 says she doesn’t want to try out for sports, because, her words: I don’t like to run. I can’t just free throw for the basketball; I can’t just stand by the goal in soccer; I can’t hit all the balls and other people run the bases. *irritating*
So I tell her to learn a new instrument. She already plays drums and clarinet and some other wind instrument. I say: there are awesome Classroom Stringed Instruments you could learn and that doesn’t involve any running. She said, and I kid you not: Oh, it involves running. Running away from the other students who make cats fighting in the ally sound like a symphony.
This is why I don’t argue with her.

This lawyer thing becomes more real by the minute
So the closer I get to graduation (April, 2014!), the more I’m toying with ideas about what kind of law I want to practice. Note that sentence does not say what kind of lawyer I want to be. Because the two are different. Vastly different - and it annoys me to no end when people ask the latter, because I fight the urge every time to reply to “what kind of lawyer do you want to me” with a quick and dirty “why, craptastic of course!”
So, I’ve narrowed my topics to specifically exclude things like commercial law (corporations, etc.) and insurance defense (because that’s what I do now and I HATE it). But, in the possibility topics, criminal law will always be my number one choice (but I have some severe student loan debt to pay off so being a humble civil servant might actually have to wait a while) and I am really interested in tax law (yes, Federal Tax Law), some areas of family law, personal injury law, products liability is interesting to me and so is the idea of becoming an immigration lawyer, so to say I have some decisions to make, is like, the understatement of the year!

Printing may be in my future
I’m toying with the idea of taking a political stand on a certain subject. While I toy with it, I consider the various options and how I could accomplish certain things, like maybe overnight print options because once I decide if I’m going to do it, part of it will consist of a mass mailing campaign and I can’t do that at work. And I don’t have time with classes and work and kids and the like to stand at a copier all night long.
I’ve never been much for politics, but I may just make an exception here. But there are many factors I have to consider, such as the effect of the political stand on me, personally, and what, if any, repercussions I may face that may or may not affect my ability to graduate.
