End of Year Accounting is Upon Us

Here is the thing, as the end of the year gets close, it is time to put all of your financial records in order and get ready for the coming tax season.  For me this means gathering all the receipts out of my purse and the various drawers I place them in and put them into a big expando folder for this year.   I have a friend who gathers all of her stuff and sends it to her accountants Raleigh NC for safe keeping.  If I had accountants, I’d probably do the same thing.  But, since I am my own accountant, my big red expando file will do for now.

Speaking of Christmas Gift Giving...

Speaking of Christmas gift shopping and giving, both of my daughters have asked for yoga gear this year.  I don’t understand it.  Then again, my butt was NOT made for yoga pants.  It was made for jeans.  Nice, firming jeans.  I’ll try not to dwell on the fact that it is sad when your teenage daughters can pull of something so desirable and comfortable as yoga pants, when all you want is to wear something comfy and cozy.  This whole aging thing, I’m not feeling it.

Better Safe than Sorry and Christmas - All Wrapped into One!

It is time to start thinking about gifts and who wants what and who needs what and all that holiday stuff.  This year, I’ve been rather practical with my gift giving. I’m giving my family members stuff they need more than what they may want.  Of course my kids will probably whine about it, but I know my brothers and sisters and even my mom will be happy about the rfid wallets I am giving them.  If you don’t know, apparently, there are little devises that people can swipe next to your credit cards or ID badges and the little swiper device thing stores all the information on your card allowing the person to then use it to make themselves a nice credit card or otherwise steal your identity and/or information.  Call me paranoid, but with cash being the minority and everyone carrying a debt or credit card, I’d rather be safe than sorry.

Vacation Home - in my dreams (and perhaps my reality)

So I’m taking finals this week and while I am diligently studying and taking the required chocolate brakes and walk around the house and clean something breaks, and well, any break that takes me away from constitutional law for even a few short minutes breaks, I do find myself day dreaming about a nice vacation.  Or a permanent vacation. I’d consider that too.  Like maybe something along the lines of Highlands NC real estate because honestly, if I went on vacation, I’m not sure I’d want to come home.
