Christmas Gift Ideas for Those of Us with Musicians in the Family

Long time readers know that my daughter and nephew are both musically inclined. They play many instruments and my nephew learned to play by ear. He can listen to a song and play it back on his guitar within minutes. He is amazingly talented. His band took 3rd place in Utah in a battle of the bands last year. Once he starts getting some actual paid gigs, I’m thinking of going in on a exciting chauvet motion drape from guitar center for his band. A small investment that will make them stand out just a little bit more from other bands who are just starting out. It is a rough business, so if I can help in any small way, I’m on it!

Decorating Season is Upon Us

I have purchased so many extension cords this year to assemble the Christmas light display to be seen from space, that I may need a new room in the house just to store the cords, tape and connectors. I tend to troll the various decoration stores and home improvement stores to find just the right thing for the yard. This year so far I have purchased a new light up wreath to hang over the garage and I’m on the hunt for a penguin to sit on the side of the house where the snowman goes. It really is the busiest time of the year.

Christmas is Coming

Years ago my brother in law bought my youngest daughter a set of drums for Christmas. I’m not going to lie - I hated his guts for months. I finally put them out in the back yard and then I had peace again. But the neighbors all hated my guts. Such is life when one of your kids is a budding musician I suppose. Now days she likes the bigger, better instruments. She’s proficient on many wind instruments and she still loves to bang out a beat. I recently lost my mind and actually started looking at ION electronic drums at musicians friend as a Christmas gift. Then, thankfully, I came to my senses.
