I want a vacation home (or two)

There was a time in my life when all I wanted was enough money to pay all of my bills each month, with a little extra left over to take the kids to dinner and a movie.   Then I became a grown up and decided I want a whole lot more than that.  I want enough money to pay my bills in FULL, each MONTH, AND have enough left over that I can put 15% in retirement for myself AND my husband AND add to the college funds AND pay extra on my student loans each month AND take nice vacations AND maybe even look into OrlandoVacation Homes so that when I take that nice vacation on a beach, I’m actually staying at my very own house.  Now that’s a goal!

What is a room makeover without a wall mount?

My kids got new television sets for Christmas in 2010. This date will be important in a minute.   So, the kids got a television set for their rooms since they are antisocial little twerps and don’t want to spend a lot of face time with mom and dad now that they’ve hit puberty. Anyway, last year, Christmas 2011, the 15 year old asked for a room makeover for Christmas.  Much to my horror, the tv wall mounts that we bought the year before (yet somehow never installed) got put in the attic and were otherwise missing in action.  A TV without a wall mount, when you’ve removed the necessary furniture to facilitate a standing on something kind of TV makes a room remodel quite difficult. Just saying.

Swivel stem chairs - I miss them

Years and years ago we had a kitchen table and chairs that swiveled.  The kids loved to sit and spin and spin and spin until finally, the wheels fell off. Because kitchen chairs just are not made for that kind of abuse – the kind of abuse a 3 and 5 year old can inflict on furniture. One day, the youngest was spinning away and whammo! The chair wheel fell right off.  Snapped in two.  So I did the logical thing and bought some stem casters that were metal.  The only problem was that when we moved to the scorching desert, the wheels were no es bueno for my new southwest tile floors.  If I still had linoleum, I am certain I’d still have that kitchen set.
